Book Cover
MEDIUM:
Adobe Illustrator Digital Composition
OBJECTIVE:
Apply 2D design elements and compositional principles to create a new book cover, for a book related to your major. Utilize visual tools to convey thematic content and build an eye-catching graphic layout.
APPROACH:
The title of "The Not So Big House" is the strongest asset of the original cover for this book, which centers around the architectural concepts developed by Sarah Susanka. As with many other things in American culture, having more or bigger is not actually serving us and our well-being, just our egos. Arguably, "bigger" in the context of sports, food, and vehicles is equally unnecessary as an oversized house. Unlike the original cover, I wanted to keep my design simple. I told a story with scale and lines, and I pulled the bright color scheme from Dr. Suess' "The Lorax", which in many ways addresses the same issues, for a different perspective.
